Details: In this workshop you will learn all about developing the blueprint for your business, including:

  • Customer benefits
  • Marketing strategy/plan
  • Market analysis, size, and opportunity
  • Financial plan and projections

Please note that junior division participants are not required to complete a business plan. This session is intended for girls on the senior teams, as they are required to submit a business plan for their app.

Drop-In I

Date: March 04, 2020
Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Location: SA 106 (Science A Building)
Details: This workshop will be a mid-program check-in to see how the teams are progressing through the curriculum. Each team should be prepared to give a 5 minute presentation about the following information:

  • A short description of your app
  • The voice, values, and vision of your brand and logo
  • Your business model (what type of business you want to create)
  • Your mission statement
  • Summary of your consumer research plan (or what is being done about it)
  • Results from competitor analysis and market research for your app
  • Business names and positioning statement

Paper Prototyping

Date: February 08, 2020
Time: 1:00pm - 4:00pm
Location: EEEL 161 (Energy, Environment, Experiential Learning Building)
Details: How do we go from an idea to an app? Designers often sketch wireframes on paper to envision what their interfaces will be like. This workshop introduces the concept of paper prototyping using index cards.

App Inventor

Date: February 08, 2020

Location: EEEL 161 (Energy, Environment, Experiential Learning Building)
Details:The goal of this workshop is to get the girls comfortable using the App Inventor platform for coding. This web app is a great way to get started with Android programming using a block-based language similar to Scratch.

Mentorship Information Session

Details: Curious about joining Technovation as a mentor? Already signed up as a mentor, but unsure of how to find a team? Are you a teacher or team sponsor trying to find a mentor for your team? Join us on Tuesday, January 28th to get your questions answered. We are inviting all past and present mentors, teachers and team sponsors to come together on campus to share ideas and collaborate.

***Teachers and team sponsors are encouraged to bring one representative from their team to share their ideas and app vision.

Intro to Computational Thinking

Location: MS 119 (Mathematical Sciences building)
Details: Programming is a language where we break problems into steps. This workshop provides a general introduction into how to think in a way that a computer would understand. These skills will work for any programming language.
