REMINDER: On-campus classes, activity resume Monday

Message to UCalgary community from Provost and Vice-President (Academic) Teri Balser
COVIDSafe campus

As communicated by President Ed McCauley on Sept. 16, the University of Calgary will reopen to on-campus activity on Monday, Sept. 20 under the previously announced COVIDSafe Campus protocols.

If you were on campus for the delivery of teaching, research and support functions prior to Thursday, Sept. 16, you will be expected to come to campus Sept. 20. Staff who had been working remotely prior to Thursday, Sept. 16 should continue to work remotely.

COVIDSafe requires community members who come on campus to be either fully vaccinated or tested regularly for COVID-19 and to wear masks in indoor spaces on campus. This program has been reviewed by Alberta Health and deemed compliant with public health orders that post-secondary institutions must follow to avoid restrictions on capacity and physical distance. These orders are scheduled for release by the Government of Alberta Sept. 20.

The actions taken by our community to date protect our campus. More than 91 per cent of those who will be coming onto campus are already fully vaccinated and the remainder must provide regular negative tests for COVID-19. This, plus masking requirements, provides the safety necessary for the on-campus teaching, research and support functions that are so essential for a great research university.

We will, as always, monitor the situation closely and will not hesitate to take actions necessary to support the health and safety of our community.
