Tech Fest 2025 to connect top employers with students at UCalgary
Post-secondary students looking for careers in AI, data analytics or software development will get a chance to connect with top employers – such as TC Energy, Shell and Amazon Web Services – at Tech Fest 2025.
The Nov. 6 event, an innovation-focused career and networking fair run by the Faculty of Science, will be attended by more than 1,000 students, graduate students and alumni from the University of Calgary, SAIT and Mount Royal University.
“Tech Fest supports our goal of providing educational experiences that produce inspired and workplace-ready graduates to help drive Alberta’s and Canada’s economy,” says Dr. Pierre Kennepohl, PhD, associate dean of Innovation in the Faculty of Science.
Sponsored by TC Energy, the event will give employers an opportunity to recruit high-caliber students and alumni for internships, co-op placements and long-term career roles. It’s a chance for students to explore career pathways, connect with leading organizations in Calgary’s growing tech and innovation space, and build relationships that can shape their future.
“At TC Energy, the education pillar of our Build Strong program aims to improve access to education for individuals from various backgrounds so that the energy workforce is supported for today and generations to come,” said Trevence Mitchell, manager of Social Impact with TC Energy.
“We are proud to sponsor Tech Fest and meet students who are curious, adaptable and passionate about making an impact in areas ranging from pipeline sensors and automation to data analytics, AI and more."
Other employers involved include Alberta Electric System Operator, the Public Service Commission of Canada, Telus and ENFOCOM Cyber.
Tech Fest runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday in MacEwan Hall A and B on the University of Calgary main campus.
The event gives students a chance to meet potential employers at information booths or in an interactive gaming lounge, where they can skip the formal introductions and join industry professionals for a round of Muffin Fight, created by Red Iron Labs.
