UCalgary alumni elected to Parliament in 2025 federal vote

As Parliament resumed following the April 28 federal election, 16 University of Calgary alumni and former employees were set to represent Canadians in the House of Commons as newly elected or returning Members of Parliament.
With their UCalgary studies and experiences ranging from political science, social work and law to education, engineering and environmental design, as well as the ranks of administration, these MPs — representing both Conservative and Liberal parties — bring a wide range of experiences to Canada’s 45th Parliament.
“This is a proud day for our university when so many of our alumni, as well as former staff members, have achieved these seats of high influence in the House of Commons,” says Dr. Ed McCauley, president of the University of Calgary.
“When we see so many of our own participating in the highest echelons of public service and making a positive impact on our country, it really does reflect on the quality and value of a University of Calgary education.”
McCauley adds: “I’ll be following the contributions of our UCalgary community in Parliament with great interest.”
