Undergraduate Safety Training
All undergraduate students taking a chemistry laboratory course must complete the Online Safety Training.
Safety Training for Personnel
Lab safety resources for staff, instructors, and graduate students.
Every department member is required to complete the following five online safety training modules, as soon as they begin their position. These modules can be found through links found on the Environmental, Health & Safety training website. You can find the required modules by searching for their titles:
- Occupational Health and Safety Orientation
- Hazard Assessment Training
- WHMIS 2015
- Spill Response Training
- Laboratory Safety (Prerequisite: WHMIS 2015)
Additionally, the University now requires training for all students, faculty, and staff on the topics listed below:

Access Chematix - our chemical inventory database:
- Log onto to the my.ucalgary.ca portal
- Click on “Around Campus” tab
- Navigate to "Stay Safe" and click on "Chematix"
- Select "Click here to continue" on the left side of the page
- Select "Inventory Management"
