Apega Summit Awards 2023

Department of Geoscience researchers have been honoured with the the 2023 Project Achievement Award. This award is presented to an engineering or geoscience project that contributes new technologies, processes, or innovations for the improvement of society.

Team members (including UCalgary geoscience faculty members, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows) studied the effects of carbon capture and sequestration. In partnership with Cenovus Energy, they found a 200-hectare site near Brooks, Alta., with a suitable storage reservoir at a shallow depth of 300 metres.
