ASTech Award for associate professor a first for nursing
Congratulations to associate professor Dr Linda Duffett-Leger who received a 2022 ASTech Award in Edmonton this past weekend in the category Innovations in Healthcare/Health Technology for her project Creating Scalable Digital Solutions to Support the Mental Health and Wellness of Albertans. Her research is focused on the urgently needed virtual delivery of mental health and wellness programs to mitigate the lifelong consequences of socio-environmental adversities on health and psychological outcomes. Integrating artificial intelligence (AI) enabled smart tools into the virtual delivery systems provides clinicians real-time decision support and allows researchers to make evidence-based programs more accessible to the public they serve.
Duffett-Leger's research develops digital technologies to solve real-world health challenges for individuals, families, health-care providers and communities.
This was the 33rd year for the ASTech Awards, which recognize and celebrate the greatest achievements of outstanding individuals and organizations in the Alberta science and technology innovation community. This year's nomination process had a record number of submissions, showcasing Alberta's contributions to the province and beyond.
