Kids Cancer Care Foundation Biostorage Facility
September 25 was an important day for childhood cancer research at the University of Calgary. The Kids Cancer Care Foundation (KCC) Biostorage Facility was unveiled by KCC Chairman Bob Yarish, CEO Christine McIver and clinician investigator Dr. Jennifer Chan, MD. The facility is part of the Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders Research Labs - a collaborative translational research space made possible by generous contributions from the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation, KCC, and others. The materials in this biostorage are advancing children’s cancer research through supporting a range of local, national, and international projects. These include the Terry Fox Precision Oncology for Young People project and the Pediatric Oncology Experimental Therapeutics Investigator Consortium which are focused on finding new therapies for cancers that are resistant to traditional treatments. Thanks to community support for making this facility possible.
