Professor to join Alberta Workers’ Compensation Act appeals commission

Professor Gideon Christian has been appointed to the appeals commission for the Alberta Workers’ Compensation Act, effective May 1. The appointment was made official through an Order in Council by the Government of Alberta on March 14, 2023. Christian will serve for three years.  

"I am delighted to receive the news of the Order-in-Council appointment," says Christian. "As a faculty member, I have over the years contributed and continued to contribute to the academic development of my students and the university community. Recently, I have come to realize the need for me to contribute to the city and province that have provided me with a friendly environment to work, play and raise my young family. This determination led to my volunteering with the Calgary Police Technology Ethics Steering Committee. Now, I am happy for the opportunity to contribute to the province by serving as an Appeals Commissioner at the Alberta Appeals Commission."
