Symposium pays tribute to Dr. Viola Birss of the Department of Chemistry

Dr. Birss was honoured at the Spring Symposium of the Canadian Section of the Electrochemical Society for her many contributions to the field of Electrochemistry

Dr. Viola Birss (University of Calgary) was honoured at the Spring Symposium of the Canadian Section of the Electrochemical Society. This special symposium was held at the University of Calgary on Sunday, June 12. The symposium paid tribute to Viola’s many and varied contributions to the field of Electrochemistry and included 13 national and international invited speakers and had over 100 attendees.  The symposium underscored Viola’s work across fundamental electrochemistry, catalysis, energy storage, corrosion and sensors and her significant influence in many fields beyond. The speaker presentations highlighted the strong community of highly qualified personnel and collaborators stretching across the globe inspired by interactions with Viola.
