Important Deadlines

As our Graduate Professional Program’s courses are taught according to a non-standard schedule , they have different drop, add and withdrawal deadlines. Please refer to the Student Centre for deadlines specific to courses with a non-standard schedule.

Please ensure you are familiar with the drop deadlines for your classes. For non-standard courses, the add/swap deadlines are the same as the drop deadlines.

When a class is dropped before its drop deadline, the course will not appear on your academic transcript and charges for the course will not be applied.

When a class is removed after its drop deadline but before its withdrawal deadline, a ‘W’ will be placed on your academic transcript and charges will still apply.

Deadlines are found on the Home Page of your Student Centre as part of the Enrolled Courses table.

The Master of Data Science program includes the 24 units (eight 3-unit courses) from the Certificate and Diploma courses. All Master’s students will take DATA 691 and then have a choice between pursuing a Professional Internship through DATA 693 or a Research Internship through DATA 695.

Data Science 691 - Integrated Topics in Data Science and Analytics

Data Science 693 - Professional Internship in Data Science and Analytics  OR  Data Science 695 - Research Capstone in Data Science and Analytics

Data Science 695 - Research Capstone in Data Science and Analytics

The intention is for all Master’s students to complete a professional internship (in industry) or research capstone. Both the internship course and the research capstone will be worth 6 units and cover topics related to professional skills development, in addition to the opportunity to apply your new skills. The Science Careers and Professional Internship Centre will provide support to all students in developing strong applications, connecting with employers and with access to one on one advising, career development workshops and resources, employer networking and an exclusive Science Co-op and Internship Job board. Students pursuing the internship options are responsible for securing their internships through active participation in the program, applying to diverse array of opportunities and interviewing successfully.
