Mary Buckley Award for Studies in Climate

The Mary Buckley Award for Studies in Climate supports undergraduate students committed to addressing modern climate change issues through their academic, research, or community work.

  • Up to $2,000

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be a continuing undergraduate student in the Department of Earth, Energy, and Environment, Faculty of Science
  • Be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Demonstrate academic merit
  • Show a commitment to modern climate change issues through a written application
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.60


Application Instructions

Applicants must answer the following two questions as part of their application (please limit to 300 words per question):

1 - Commitment to Climate Change Solutions

What specific steps have you taken to address or understand modern climate change issues, and how do you see yourself contributing to solutions in this field in the future? Include examples such as:

  • Courses completed on climate processes or climate change
  • Research projects (independent or supervised)
  • Work, volunteer, or internship experiences related to climate issues

2 - Personal Impact Statement

Explain how receiving the Mary Buckley Award would enable you to further your studies and amplify your contributions to climate change solutions or environmental sustainability.
