Chemistry Week 2021

This year Chemistry Week takes place Oct. 17 - 23

Can you picture the periodic table?

UCalgary’s Department of Chemistry is celebrating National Chemistry Week by challenging the entire campus and Calgary community to enter a fun Instagram photo-contest.

National Chemistry Week is an annual, week-long celebration of the chemical science in Canada. This year it’s running from October 17 – 23, 2021. It offers an opportunity for youth to get connected with the wonders of chemistry and for the not-so-young to appreciate the positive aspects of chemistry through hands-on experiments, games, demonstrations, lectures, exhibitions and more.

You are invited to post pictures with creative captions on your Instagram account covering elements of the periodic table. The goal of the contest is to relate chemistry to our everyday lives by taking pictures inspired by chemical elements. You don’t need to be a chemist or an aspiring chemist to participate; the objective is to be as creative as possible and learn a few fun facts about chemistry.

How to participate? Simply post your picture, with a caption, on Instagram and tag #UCalgaryChemistryWeek2021.  The best images will be reposted on the Faculty of Science Twitter feed at the end of National Chemistry Week!
