Concentration Description

The University of Calgary offers one of the FIRST university level computer game development courses in the world and one of the only programs of its kind in Canada.

The philosophy of this concentration is to provide students with a solid foundation in Computer Science while providing them with a thorough background in all aspects of computer game development and design.

Lectures for the CPSC 585 capstone course are given by representatives from an active Games Development Company as well as CPSC faculty members. Utilizing tools that are currently being used in the Gaming Industry, students work in teams to collaborate and collectively work on an actual game that is to be created during term. Students are required to take a multi-disciplinary range of courses stemming from CPSC, Physics, Mathematics, Fine Arts and Communication Studies.
