Research

Areas of Research

Metal-based Anticancer Drugs

The research interests of Dr. Jalilehvand include chemical speciation and coordination chemistry of metal complexes with potential therapeutic effects, investigating how they interact with molecules with biological functions, and how changes in coordinated ligands influence their properties such as cytotoxicity and cellular uptake.

Jalilehvand group relies on advanced spectroscopic techniques with expertise in the field of synchrotron-based X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), probing the local structure (e.g. bond distances) around metal ions in solution and in solid state, and X-ray fluorescence microscopy (XFM) for getting elemental distribution maps in biological samples.
