This year, Faculty of Science, the offices of the VP (Finance) and VP (Services) and VP Research, Libraries and Cultural Resources, Faculty of Arts, Student & Enrolment Services, Advancement, Schulich School of Engineering, UC Vet Med, School of Public Policy, IT, Faculty of Kinesiology, Continuing Education, Cumming School of Medicine, and UC International are teaming up to bring you to two prize island games: Cozy Island and Wonders of Fermentation Island survivors.
Participate in one or both - it's up to you!
To participate, you must be 18+ and reside in Alberta. Ticket sales will run online, so you need a credit or debit card with an Alberta address. Winners of the survivor games will be announced in December.
Hygge Survivor on Cozy Island
The seasons are changing...are you ready for hygge evenings and weekends? Cozy island is filled with all the warm, comfortable things that bring hygge into your life - woolly socks, handknit mittens, warm tea and hot chocolate, candles, delicious non-perishable snacks and candies, good books, and more...
Bring hygge things to the island
From Monday Oct 30 to Friday November 24, drop off new cozy things at one of the following locations (minimum value of $5-10 but you can exceed this. Handmade items welcome!). Be sure to include your name and email address with your item.

After the 24th, the island closes and ticket sales will begin shortly afterward (you'll be notified by email). One ticket = one life. Lots of tickets = lots of lives to stay on the island, and better chances to win. Players must have brought an item to the island to buy tickets.

Last people standing
In early December, we begin drawing tickets/lives to eliminate players from the island. The last five survivors take a share of the prize pool. The more tickets you've purchased, the better your chances to stay on the island and win!
4th, 5th, and 3rd person standing each receives 10% of the prize pool
2nd person standing receives 20% of the prize pool
1st person standing receives 50% of the prize pool

Other ways to support the United Way
UCalgary 50/50 draw: the draw is campus-wide, with a prize pot of up to $10,000. To play, you must be 18+ and residing in Alberta. Ticket sales run from October 19-December 12. Winning ticket will be drawn on December 13.
Sparks of Gratitude: purchase 'spark' cards to give a note of thanks and appreciation to a coworker! Sparks are 5 for $10. Buy online; your sparks will be delivered by a volunteer.
Make a donation: one-time or ongoing donations to the United Way help Calgary and area agencies and organizations as they provide services to the community. Payroll deductions are easy to do and you'll receive a tax receipt on your T4. Pledge now and your donation will start in January!
