Celebrate 60 years of UCalgary

UCalgary’s 60th anniversary isn’t just a milestone for campus — it belongs to our entire community of alumni, donor, partners and friends of the university.

Come to campus and enjoy free food and music at the Calgary Stampede Community Stage, play trivia for prizes at the Den, walk down memory lane on a campus tour — or even participate in breaking a world record for the most people dressed up as dinosaurs.

Whether you come for the whole day or stop by, you’re invited to attend and bring your friends and family; everyone is welcome. Maybe you could even plan a mini-reunion at The Den!

Here’s the exciting lineup of programming you can expect on Apr. 11:  

• 10:00 a.m. — Alumni check-in tables open outside the Den — Stop by to win prizes, learn about your alumni benefits and see the exciting philanthropy-driven research that’s changing lives every day.
• 11:00 a.m. — Rex’s Jurassic Jamboree at the Taylor Family Digital Library quad — Together, the UCalgary community will try to break a record for the most people dressed as dinosaurs from head-to-toe. Have one of those inflatable dino costumes? There’s never been a better time to wear it!
• 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. — Trivia in the Den — Test your knowledge of your alma mater in a one-hour trivia session for a chance to win great prizes.
• 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. — Campus Tours — Join a one-hour campus tour starting from the alumni tables outside the Den. See how your old stomping ground has changed and learn about the exciting developments in research and philanthropy on campus.
• 1:00 p.m. — Live performance by the Heebee-jeebees in the Den — Catch UCalgary’s alumni acapella superstars the Heebee-Jeebees live at the Den, or head out to the Taylor Family Digital Library (TFDL) quad for lunch at the Stampede Community Stage while supplies last.
• 3:00 p.m. — Start Something, Eh! with Chancellor Jon Cornish in the Jack — Join UCalgary Chancellor Jon Cornish and a crew of trailblazing Canadians for a one-of-a-kind gathering celebrating Canadian pride and innovation in the Jack Simpson Gym. Hosted by the UCalgary Senate.
• 4:00 p.m. — Birthday Cupcakes — What’s a birthday without cake? Wrap up a fun day by celebrating UCalgary’s 60th anniversary with a sweet treat in the TFDL quad. 

Alumni who check in at the tables outside the Den are eligible for a free appetizer voucher while supplies last.

Can’t Attend in Person? 

UCalgary has alumni across the globe, and if you can’t attend on campus on April 11— you can still take part in the celebration. Submit a photo to the UCalgary 60th anniversary photo mosaic, a project commemorating this historic milestone with contributions from the entire UCalgary community. Photos will be accepted from March – July 2026, and we look forward to sharing the final image once it’s completed.
