The Faculty of Science is partnering with University of Calgary International and the U.S. Consulate General to host USA Day 2019. We are pleased to welcome Dr. Nicola Fox, Director of the Heliophysics Division of NASA as a special guest and keynote speaker.

A respected researcher and accomplished administrator, Dr. Fox is a champion for science education and outreach activities.

We are especially pleased to offer opportunities for the University of Calgary community to engage with Dr. Fox during the day, in addition to the public keynote address in the evening.

Public keynote address

Heliophysics is not only vital to understanding Earth’s most important and life-sustaining star, but the study of key space phenomena and processes supports situational awareness to better protect astronauts, satellites, and robotic missions exploring the solar system and beyond.

You’re invited to an evening of space awe and wonder as Dr. Nicola Fox shares her research on the sun and its effect on Earth and the solar system. This talk is free and open to the public.

Dr. Nicola Fox

About Dr. Fox

Dr. Nicola Fox is the Director of the NASA Heliophysics Science Division. She was the lead scientist for the Parker Solar Probe, and served as the Science and Operations Coordinator for the International Solar-Terrestrial Physics Science Initiative, and deputy project scientist for the Van Allen Probes. A proven leader with extensive project, program and supervisory experience, she has authored numerous scientific articles and papers in addition to delivering science presentations worldwide. She is keenly involved with science education and outreach activities.
