Professor appointed to FNREL International Committee

Professor Elizabeth Steyn was appointed to the International Committee of the Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law (FNREL) on September 7, 2023. The purpose of the International Committee is primarily to increase engagement, participation, and membership with the Foundation by constituents in Latin America and Canada. These constituents encompass all categories of participation – from individual members to institutional, corporate, professional, educational, or otherwise. In addition, the Committee works to increase the Foundation’s international outreach and scope in accordance with the Foundation’s strategic plan in order to maintain and build on the Foundation’s excellent profile and status in the natural resource sector and industry.

"It was with great excitement that I learnt of my nomination to The Foundation’s International Committee," says Steyn. "It is a cause close to my heart. The timing is particularly auspicious, given that I have just had the good fortune of joining the natural resources and energy hub constituted by UCalgary’s Faculty of Law, which also happens to be a bastion of strength insofar as Foundation activity and representation in Canada is concerned."

Steyn's appointment is for three years.
