David Cramb departing for decanal appointment at Ryerson University

A message from Provost and Vice-President (Academic) Dru Marshall
David Cramb joined the University of Calgary in 1997.

David Cramb joined the University of Calgary in 1997.

It is bittersweet that I am sharing with you today that Dr. David Cramb, PhD, will be leaving the University of Calgary as he has been appointed dean of the Faculty of Science at Ryerson University effective Oct. 15, 2018. This is an impressive accomplishment and recognition of the leadership strength in the Faculty of Science and his personal leadership within our faculty and across campus.

Dave is currently the head of the Department of Chemistry, a role he has held since 2012. He is also the director of the nanoscience program. He came to UCalgary in 1997 and has served the Faculty of Science in many capacities.

Dave has been an active member of the UCalgary community at the institutional level, where he has served on the General Faculties Council for three years and the Board of Governors since the summer of 2017.

Dr. Kevin Thurbide, PhD, has been appointed interim department head as of July 1, 2018 as Cramb’s term as head will end on June 30, 2018. A search will be launched in the coming weeks for a new department head in chemistry.

Please join me in congratulating Dave on his appointment.

Dru Marshall
