Scott Venturo LLP adds second Insurance Law Scholarship at University of Calgary Faculty of Law
The Calgary Curriculum at the University of Calgary Faculty of Law brings hands-on learning to the classroom, giving students practical experience in all areas of the law. The law school’s course in Insurance Law gives upper-year students the opportunity to focus on the application of the relevant legal and policy principles commonly encountered by lawyers engaged in various aspects of insurance work.
“Many graduates will work in insurance law in their first few years of legal practice,” says Domenic Venturo, JD’85 and senior partner with Scott Venturo LLP. “It’s important for law schools to adequately prepare students on how to deal effectively with the issues and work related to this area of the law. For this reason, we felt it was important to reaffirm our commitment to providing excellent legal education at the University of Calgary, and will now offer the Scott Venturo LLP Scholarship in Insurance Law to two students per year as opposed to just one.”
The Scott Venturo LLP Scholarship in Insurance Law is awarded to the two students with the highest academic standing in Law 553 – Insurance Law each year. With the wide range of topics the course covers, the scholarship truly recognizes the hard work students put in to the course throughout the semester.
“The scholarship is a great recognition of how hard I worked in the course,” says Joseph Eisenlohr, JD’16 and winner of the 2016 award. “It’s scholarships like this one that make law school a reality for many students, and I am really grateful for Scott Venturo LLP’s ongoing commitment to UCalgary Law.”
