Student team wins Ottawa's Capital Riverfront Challenge
A student team from the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape won the Ottawa Capital Riverfront Challenge organized by the National Capital Commission (NCC). The winning interdisciplinary group includes Emily Kaing (MLA), Ji Sun (MArch), and Liyang Wan (MPlan), and was supervised by Professor Francisco Alaniz Uribe. Their submission, titled “Fluvial”, is a design vision for a new public park along the Ottawa River south shore inspired by the natural riparian forms and life. Amongst 12 other submissions from universities across Canada, their entry was the winning design.
“The Capital Riverfront Challenge is a competition that invites students from across the country to come up with ideas for key riverfront parcels in Canada’s Capital Region. The competition is organized by the National Capital Commission (NCC), the federal Crown corporation dedicated to ensuring that Canada’s Capital is a dynamic and inspiring source of pride for all Canadians, and a legacy for generations to come.”
