Second-year student receives Merv Leitch, QC Scholarship
Second-year student Chantal Carriere was awarded the 2016 Merv Leitch, QC Scholarship on September 22. The scholarship, which is awarded to an upper-year law student each year, was created by friends and colleagues of the late Merv Leitch, in recognition of his significant contributions to the public life of his province and his country.
"Chantal represents the very best of the UCalgary Law ethos, and embodies the same commitment to duty and excellence that Mr Leitch exemplified," said Ian Holloway, dean of UCalgary Law. "I can't think of a more deserving recipient."
Chantal was presented with the scholarship at the 25th annual Merv Leith, QC Memorial Lecture on September 22, which featured Gordon D. Giffin, the Chair of the Public Policy and Regulation Department of Dentons US, and former US ambassador to Canada.
