About the speaker

Peter Tertzakian is an adjunct professor at UCalgary’s Haskayne School of Business and the executive director of ARC Energy Research Institute. A respected public speaker, podcaster, blogger and author, he has devoted his career to energy, first as a geophysicist, then as an economist and investment strategist. Peter has written two bestsellers, A Thousand Barrels a Second and The End of Energy Obesity, and has just launched his new project, Energyphile and book, The Investor Visit. Peter’s passion is studying how society evolves its energy use and applying lessons of the past to today’s strategic business issues.

About the moderator

Community leader and Calgary journalist Deborah Yedlin was elected the 14th chancellor of the University of Calgary, effective July 1, 2018. Yedlin has been observing, commenting and writing about business and politics for more than two decades, as a journalist for the Financial Post, Globe and Mail and Calgary Herald. In addition to her writing, she has been a regular commentator for CBC Radio and Television, and CTV since 1996.
